Tips for starting a diet

Get professional help and support

This will give you guidance and keep you accountable.

This is important to

  • screen you medically
  • manage pre existing medical conditions
  • set goals
  • scrutinize every aspect of your action plan and cover all the bases
  • assist you with problems you might encounter and help steer you ahead

Have a positive mindset and positive attitude

You have to look forward to doing this. Start happily, excited and enthusiastically. Know that you will be better, brighter and healthier for having done this and these benefits will be worth every bit.

Set Realistic goals

Set sensible, realistic and healthy goals.

Face your fears

You have to ask yourself what your biggest fear or fears in this is? Face them head on!

Be kind and patient with yourself

Why not? You have got to be the best person to you.

Focus overall health and a balanced lifestyle

Weight loss should never be at the expense of one’s health. The aim is to be healthy from the inside out and overall health. This means healthy mind, healthy emotions, healthy body as well as reaching your ideal body weight.

Once you reach your goals you should be radiant, glowing with health, feeling at your peak and functioning at your optimal level?

Do not expect instant results …

There is no magic. This is a process. It has a beginning and end and everything that will happen in between. The aim is to finish strong. Stay focused on your goal. You have a vision … walk by your vision … you will get there.

It wont always be easy

If you’re doing this correctly, it will not be a quick fix.

You will need to practice discipline, will power and perseverance. Attributes we should aspire to anyway? Stay focused and committed to reaching your goals in a sensible time frame. If this is what you determine, it makes you prepared for your journey.

Cut the emotions out

This is not an emotional journey. You will have some good days and bad days.

Pity parties are not allowed … keep moving forward … you will have cheats, some weak moments and some strong days, you will resist temptations and give in sometimes … that’s life … just keep looking forward …

Do not board the roller coaster!

Guilt

This tip is important. There should be no guilt associated with food. If you have a bad meal or a bad day… so what ? Rule off … start afresh each day … you’re only human, allow yourself to be … no one is perfect and you are not expected to be! Rule off and get back on track … don’t look back … stay focused on your goal and keep moving forward. Don’t give up … if you fall off the wagon, get back on, and back on, and back on. We try our best everyday and everyday we try out best!

Don’t give up

People give up too easily … there should be no such thing. Decide that you will not give up until you reach your goals.

Be normal about food

If you find yourself intense or obsessed or stressed about food, this must be dealt with. Food is for enjoyment and edification. You should be able to reach and maintain your goal weight and be comfortable and confident with food. There must be a sense of finding your balance and being able to trust the choices that you make.
